Blog Comments to Generate Traffic

You can use blog comments to generate traffic to your blog

Blog Comment primer:

You should already be familiar with blog comments.

These are remarks you make when you see an interesting blog post.

It may have left you feeling:

  • impressed
  • excited
  • angry
  • or jealous.

To the extent that you're motivated to comment on the blog writers post.

You can do so and blogs were designed to incorporate this feature.

At the bottom of every blog post is a comments area.

This is where blog readers can interact with the writer by leaving comments.

A sign of an active blog is where blog posts may have ten or more responses to them.

If you do decide to leave a blog comment, you have the option of leaving your email address and your blog/website address to go with your comment.

Why leave your contact details? It's a way for the author to contact you and to generate traffic for your own blog.

How to make sure your comments are approved

One reason why blog commenting is a powerful tool is because if your comment is:

  • Insightful
  • Informative
  • Entertaining

Or even better, a combination of all three factors you are likely to arouse the interest the blogger and his/her readers and generate traffic to your own blog.

How to get your comments rejected

If however, your blog comment is one along the lines of:

  • "I agree"
  • "Great post"
  • "Wow!"
  • "This sucks!"

It adds nothing to the conversation and don't be surprised if your comment isn't approved, particularly if the blogger has comment moderation turned on (comments have to be approved before they appear).

Blog Comments effective?

Particularly if the blogger is one of the top bloggers in your niche, you can arouse a fair amount of traffic to your blog.

I've heard of instances of thousands of blog readers flowing over to the blog commenters site, especially if the comment is particularly interesting.

Besides the traffic, you can expect blog comments on your posts too, so the cycle of traffic moving between blogs can generate plenty of momentum and increase your profile and credibility.
